Valencia Test, Moto2: Márquez keeps gathering kilometres at the Circuit

The Repsol rider is at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit to prepare the final stint of the season.

Valencia (10th September 2011).- After his victory last week at the Misano track, the sixth of the season from the twelfth rounds already held, Marc Márquez travelled to the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, in Cheste, for an intensive test session. The Repsol rider completed a positive test session at the Valencian track to prepare the last third of the season, where he will fight for the Moto2 class title against Stefan Bradl, leader of the overall standings with a 23-point advantage.

Márquez took the track with the main objective to gather more kilometres on his Moto2. The Repsol rider already rode during the preseason in the track that will be the scene of the last round of the Championship, but now, with more experience under his belt and a better coordination with his team, Márquez was able to set a good pace in the Valencian track. Despite the good weather -sunny and an ambient temperature of 30ºC - and with the asphalt reaching 44ºC, the Repsol rider was not able to take full advantage of the session due to the lack of grip on the track because of the dirt accumulated on the surface.

As laps went by -a total of 55 at the end of the day- Márquez kept increasing the pace and progressing in the basic set-up of his Moto2 for the Valencian track. After some adjustments, the Repsol rider also tested some technical evolutions for different parts, although the low level of grip prevented him from doing a complete assessment and he will continue with the testing tomorrow.

Marc Márquez:

"We are training thinking about the race we will have here, so the work was the usual in this kind of test. I had ridden at the Ricardo Tormo during the pre-season, but we wanted to have some more kilometres under our belts, apart from testing some evolved parts to see if we can improve, but we had very low grip; I hope it will improve tomorrow to keep working in the same line".
